The sustainability industry is undergoing sweeping changes, and businesses are having a hard time keeping up—and with good reason:

• In April 2021, The European Union (EU) proposed a new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) to replace the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD).
• In June 2021, International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) merged to form the Value Reporting Foundation (VRF).
• In October 2021, the UK announced mandatory disclosures starting in April 2022 based on Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations.
• In November 2021, the IFRS Foundation presented its new International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) during COP26 and announced that it would absorb the VRF and the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) in June.
• In January 2022, the California senate passed the Climate Corporate Accountability Act (CCAA).
• In March 2022, the US Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) followed suit by proposing long-awaited climate-related disclosure rules for large companies as of 2024.
• In April 2022, Canada announced mandatory disclosures for banks and insurance companies starting in 2024.
